The Canadian Institutes of Health Research hired Fuse to conduct a comprehensive audit of the products, tools and services offered by its Public Affairs group. The CIHR Communications and Public Outreach group provide communication support, products and services to 13 separate institutes, all of which have very unique needs.

The results of the audit not only informed decisions on how CIHR could move forward with a more strategically targeted suite of products, tools and services, it included general recommendations on how to improve and integrate with other communication disciplines – media relations, Web communications, and social media networking. It also resulted in recommendations on how to improve communication with institutes, and how to improve Web communication with better tools (subscribe and sharing tools). Many of these recommendations were adopted immediately, while commitments were made to execute others over the long term.

Fuse Communications was hired for a second project to facilitate a restructuring of the Public Affairs and Outreach group so they will be prepared to meet an increase in their workload. This project is now completed and the restructured group is in operation.
